Optigram: The visual backbone behind Hyperdub

Manuel Sepulveda is a graphic artist and fictions designer based in London. Working under the name Optigram since 2008.

He has worked with influential record labels such as Hyperdub, Planet Mu, Rephlex and Warp, and in 2020 a selection of his album sleeves was exhibited at London’s Design Museum as part of Electronic, their exhibition on the history of club culture. His fictions design work specialises in worldbuilding and encompasses the development of environments, icons, signage and language systems for film and television productions.

Co-founder of Strange Machine, a film production company which provides creative platforms for talent working outside of film industry conventions, and which is currently developing a science fiction film. He is also editor and publisher of the print journal, After Us, which explores futures in art, technology and philosophy via essays, pictorials and fiction. For 10 years he ran the retrofuturist electrofunk record label, Citinite, and since 2011 he has hosted Nitetrax, a club and experimental music show on NTS Radio.
